The Best Beaches in Cancun
Playa Delfines is the favorite among locals and the most photogenic beach in the Hotel Zone. It has free access, the iconic Cancun sign, and a spectacular viewpoint. The surf is moderate, so exercise caution when swimming. Arrive early (before 9 AM) to secure a good spot and enjoy it without crowds.
Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres is just a 20-minute ferry ride from Puerto Juarez. An Ultramar round-trip ticket costs around $350 MXN (roughly $20 USD). The water is crystal clear, calm, and shallow, making it perfect for families. Beachfront restaurants serve fresh ceviche starting at $120 MXN.

Day Trip to Chichen Itza

The best time to visit is between 8 AM and 11 AM, before the heat becomes intense and the crowds arrive.
Hotel Zone vs. Downtown Cancun
The Hotel Zone is a 23 km strip packed with all-inclusive resorts, shopping malls, and spectacular beaches. An average all-inclusive hotel costs between $3,500 and $8,000 MXN per night for a couple. It is comfortable but can feel disconnected from real Mexican culture.

Nightlife

Cancun International Airport (CUN) is 20 km from the Hotel Zone. An official airport taxi costs $800-$1,000 MXN. A private transfer booked online starts from $450 MXN. Uber does not operate from the airport (though it does work within the city). The ADO bus to downtown costs $100 MXN.

Centro / Downtown

Puerto Juárez / north
Near the Isla Mujeres ferry. Small boutique hotels $1,500-3,500 MXN. Quieter, ideal if your priority is Isla Mujeres.
