Editorial methodology
How we verify every price, route, and recommendation we publish. Editorial transparency is the foundation of RutasMéxico — if the data is wrong, the guide is useless for planning a real trip.
Last reviewed:
1. Who writes and verifies
Every article is written or reviewed personally by Arturo García (see profile), lead editor and Mexican traveler based in Mexico City. We do not use AI-generated content without human review, we do not buy articles in bulk, and we do not accept sponsored posts disguised as editorial content.
2. How we verify prices
Prices shown in the guide (flights, buses, lodging, food) come from three sources, cross-checked before publishing:
- •Official sites of each operator: volaris.com, vivaaerobus.com, aeromexico.com, ado.com.mx, etn.com.mx, primeraplus.com.mx, booking.com, expedia.com.
- •Real-time aggregators: Travelpayouts / Aviasales for flights and hotels. These are our affiliate partners — we use their data but never inflate prices to boost commissions.
- •On-site verification: for key destinations (Mexico City, Cancún, Oaxaca, Mérida, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos) food and entry prices are confirmed by traveling to the destination at least once a year.
Prices are always published as ranges (min-max) and in Mexican pesos (MXN), never as absolute values pretending to be exact at the moment of reading.
3. Update cadence
| Content type | Cadence |
|---|---|
| Transport prices (flights, buses) | Quarterly |
| Destination and route guides | Twice a year or after major changes |
| World Cup 2026 info | Monthly until June 2026 |
| Legal pages | When law or policy changes |
Each blog article and destination guide shows the publication date and, when applicable, the last updated date.
4. Official sources we consult
For topics touching on immigration, entry requirements, or public safety (YMYL — Your Money or Your Life), we always cite official sources and ask the reader to verify them before traveling:
- •INM (National Immigration Institute) — gob.mx/inm
- •SECTUR (Ministry of Tourism) — gob.mx/sectur
- •SRE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) — gob.mx/sre
- •FIFA (World Cup 2026) — fifa.com
- •UNESCO (World Heritage in Mexico) — whc.unesco.org
5. Affiliate and advertising policy
RutasMéxico is independent and free for readers. We cover hosting, verification travel, and writing with two revenue streams:
- Affiliate links (Travelpayouts, Aviasales). If you book a flight, hotel or car rental through the embedded search, we earn a commission from the provider — at no extra cost to you. Editorial recommendations are independent of commissions: we never rank an airline or hotel chain higher because they pay more.
- Display ads (Google AdSense, subject to approval). Ads are managed by Google based on page content and visitor preferences; we do not control which specific ads appear. AdSense does not influence editorial content or recommendation order.

6. Corrections and errors
If you find an error (outdated price, changed terminal, cancelled route), let us know at contacto@rutasmexico.com.mx. We verify every report and, if applicable, update the article within 72 hours with the modification date visible.
For topics with financial, immigration or safety implications, we always recommend confirming with the official source before making decisions. RutasMéxico is an editorial guide — it does not replace a travel agent, immigration lawyer or consular authority.
