Guerrero

📍 Capital: Chilpancingo🏙️ 3 key cities💰 $650-$3,050/day

Overview

Guerrero is home to legendary Acapulco, the destination that put Mexico on the international tourism map in the 1950s. Although Acapulco faced difficult years, it's in full recovery with new restaurants, boutique hotels, and its unmatched bay. The state also offers Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (a quiet, sophisticated beach), Taxco (magical silver town), and the Costa Chica with pristine beaches. Guerrero's cuisine is among Mexico's richest: pozole, pescado a la talla, and the famous Guerrero mezcal.

🌤️ Best time to visit

November to April: dry and warm weather (28-32°C/82-90°F). December-January is peak season. Easter Week in Taxco is unmissable. Avoid August-October for hurricanes and heavy rain.

🏙️ Key cities

Mexico's most spectacular bay. La Quebrada cliff divers, nightlife, Guerrero-style pozole, and beaches for every taste. In full renovation and more accessible than ever.

🛡️ Safety

⚠️

Stay in tourist zones: Zona Diamante, Costera, and main beaches. Avoid remote neighborhoods

⚠️

Acapulco has greatly improved in safety but it's still wise not to walk alone at night outside tourist zones

⚠️

Travel between cities during daylight. The toll highway (Mexico City-Acapulco) is safe and well-maintained
